"Formula Student (FS) is Europe's most established educational engineering competition. Backed by industry and high-profile engineers such Patron, Ross Brawn OBE, the competition aims to develop enterprising and innovative young engineers and encourage more young people to take up a career in engineering."

The teams are tasked to produce a single-seat, open-wheeled race car. At competition, teams will undergo numerous static and dynamic events providing an ideal opportunity for engineering students to showcase their car among some of the worlds future elite engineers.

"Formula Student is a golden opportunity to take everything I’ve learnt in the class room and apply it first-hand onto an electric race car. Managing a team is an experience I never thought I'd be able to have at university. Developing LJMU's first electric race car means I’ll be graduating with the perfect skill set to apply for jobs within an industry which is evolving around electric power."

"If there's one thing I've learnt from my previous experiences, it's to take every opportunity that comes your way and make the most of it. We finished 2nd best UK based university in our Class 2 entry and ranked 4th amongst the international teams. This wouldn't have been possible without the support and guidance from every member of the Team and the faculty advisors."
